Do I need a DVD tuner If I use a Converter Box Attached to My Antenna ? - replace analogue to digital tuner in dvd recorder
I have to replace a defective DVD player / recorder that is currently on my antenna and analog TV is connected. I bought a converter box to be ready for the big changes coming next February. In stores the local computer, virtually no DVD recorders have digital tuners. Is it really necessary for a device equipped with a digital tuner if the antenna signal first goes through the converter? I understand that the converter selects the channel crossing signal, so that a unit well without a tuner work here?

(This answer will be found in the United States, but the principles are the same in other places)
Tunerless you can use a DVD / VCR, but you will not be able to look to record one program and another. If you purchased a converter box with a timer, a video, "not be able to program the recorder that would record on multiple channels.
I would like to pay more for a model with built-in tuner, but if not much to see TV, model tunerless might be good enough for you.

PS
Most regions have more TV analog and digital, is to amend the "big" next February that the majority of analogue broadcasting.
When you buy a model tunerless and choose other options for the reception you can use a converter seconds, a connection to him. Zenwell have a model that sells for about $ 50 ($ 10 after coupon) that a "VCR timer".
No !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then ...
no way
You are probably in the United States, although your question is published on the website of Ireland. However, the same principles apply to both sides of the raft, so please read ...
A decoder can be adapted to work the incoming analog television signals, but if you can connect your DVD recorder to the same channel you are currently recording. It would be restrictive and irrelevant.
You should buy a DVD recorder disappointment has a digital tuner or a few months' work. Do this even if it means you look over your local stores.
You must also purchase antenna splitter, so that the same can be used to run the TV and VCR power. They are cheap enough for even more power.
Try to keep the business instead of a computer store television or even buy online from a well known manufacturing companies such as Panasonic. You will not regret it, even if it costs a little more.
If you do not get in, then you should invest in a separate DVD recorder tuner. TThe problem with that, not in a position to verify the validity of programs of different channels for the future of the recording.
